lost my MOJO!: every butt hurt native in the god damn world is sending me fucking hate for ranting about a regional problem

lostmymojo:

pizzaforpresident:

if you live in the united states or australia: nothing i said applies to you, shut the fuck up
if you’re canadian but not residing in thompson, manitoba: nothing i said applies to you, shut the fuck up

if you’re native, live in thompson, and have a computer to read my blog on, then you have no reason to be offended because obviously nothing i said applies to you, shut the fuck up

there’s a huge difference between being racist and having continuous bad experiences with the same groups of people

also i don’t understand how it’s racist for me to say those things but it’s perfectly fine for you to say “oh poor little privileged white boy doesn’t get to go to disney world”

you don’t know me, my socio-economic background, or my fucking race for that matter. so shut the fuck up because you’re making yourselves look stupid.

See that bolded part? Take your own advice, fuckwit, and stop talking about people you obviously know nothing about.

Pizza, in addition to the commentary above, here’s a protip for you: racism that doesn’t happen directly to me or in my immediate vicinity is still racism. The surge of vitriol you’re experiencing can be described as “a unified response against racism”.

I don’t know if you saw my previous response to your whinging, so I’ll repeat it here: if you can’t handle being torn up from all sides when you post a racist opinion, maybe you shouldn’t be on the internet.

this is the whiniest fucker i have seen on tumblr TO DATE!

it’s been like three days and shit and he’s still got buckets of tears about he had to go to disneyland late.

WHY ARE YOU SO MAD BRO?

you make your own life hard by continuing to act like a willfully ignorant asshole and blame the internet for not playing nice.

I think what white people fail to understand — or, well, you know, one of the things they fail to understand in addition to all of the usual things — is that Two-Spirit is a word for us. Tied to our history. Bringing together both our Native and queer identities.

An indigenous ethnic/racial identity is part of what Two-Spirit means.

Which is to say it’s not for you because you are not Native.

another awesome reminder from wundy!

{ Leonard Peltier In Transit | Leonard Peltier Defense Offense Committee (LPDOC) }

email i got today — please do any/all of these things that you can.  and/or pass this around if you can.  thank you.

uLeonard Peltier has been moved from USP-Lewisburg.  At this time, he is at the Federal Transfer Center (FTC) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  This is an administrative and “holdover” facility.  That means he will be held in Oklahoma temporarily — although “temporarily” could mean months — after which he will be transferred to another facility.

Please continue your efforts on Leonard’s behalf.  Keep calling the White House — 202-456-1111.  Obama must free Leonard Peltier.

Keep demandng a transfer for Leonard that is within 500 miles of his home.  Tell the Federal Bureau of Prisons that the only acceptable transfer is one to a medium security facility in close proximity to his family and Nation.

Please send e-mails, write letters and call BOP every single day.  Make reference to Leonard Peltier #89637-132 and contact:

{ Don\'t Let the Day Pass You By | Leonard Peltier Defense Offense Committee (LPDOC) }

[please check out the action alert from earlier today (link)]

i got this 2 days ago.  sorry i didn’t post it then.  ironically i did let the day pass me by.  i haven’t been checking my email enough lately.

please do as many of the things listed below as you can.  and if you could pass this around, that’d be great, too.  thank you.  NOTE: there is talk of prisoner abuse in the video and alert linked below.

Today is Leonard Peltier’s 67th birthday.  He’s in dire straits rather than being able to celebrate with family and friends—and he needs your help.

First, have you reached out to your union locals in your community?  Educate union members about the Peltier case and motivate them to work with us towards securing clemency for Leonard Peltier. Don’t be satisfied with a telephone conversation. Schedule a presentation for union members instead. Remember, there’s no substitute for face-to-face interaction. Urge locals to prepare a letter or resolution to send to President Obama in support of clemency. A copy of the same should be sent to the LPDOC. Don’t know what locals are in your area? Visit http://www.unions.org/unions/ to look up locals in your state. You can narrow your search by zip code on the same Web page. Canadian and European labor unions are encouraged to also participate in this effort. Work in solidarity for Leonard’s freedom.

Always express your support for an award of Executive Clemency to Leonard Peltier. Sign our online petition today at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Peltier_Clemency2008.  Obama can and must free Peltier!

We know you’ve followed the developments in Leonard Peltier’s situation since late June.  You’ve pitched in to defend and protect him.  You can’t know what it means to Leonard to have your support and to know you’re out here fighting for him.

Why is there an effort to destroy Leonard’s good prison record of 15+ years?  What role has the Federal Bureau of Investigation played in recent incidents at the U.S. Penitentiary at Lewisburg?

These are question that must be answered.

Please write or call to demand a congressional investigation into the treatment of Leonard Peltier since late June.

U.S. Senate
Committee on the Judiciary
Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights
Hart Senate Office Building, Room 807
Constitution Avenue and Second Street, NE
Washington, DC  20510
Phone:  202-224-7703

The Subcommittee must investigate the arbitrary and malicious actions taken by Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) personnel against Leonard at the U.S. Penitentiary at Lewisburg.

Review the details about what has occurred at http://www.whoisleonardpeltier.info/alert.htm.

You might want to draw the Subcommittee’s attention to the video by producer/director Preston Randolph, an interview with former BOP guard Bruce Smith, too.  It’s enlightening—and powerful.

Do it and keep doing it… and thank you for all you do on Leonard’s behalf.

so on sept. 11 we’re all supposed to be tearful and sad because of all The Dead People. on sept 12, we’re clapping and cheering and screaming YEAH! at the thought of an uninsured man being left to die by *doctors* (who oh yeah have that whole ethical oath thing).

we’re supposed to never ever forget USA USA USA! because all the self-sacrificing police/firemen died in the name of rescuing people—and yet, these fucking people *cheer* when a doctor, who oh YEAH, HAVE THAT WHOLE ETHICAL OATH THING, JUST LIKE COPS AND FIREMEN) ignore his ethical obligations and leave an uninsured man to die.

where is all the discussion about the death panels again? and why are there two wars being fought in the name of those “self sacrificing heros,” that republicans are doing everything they can to dismantle and privatize?

doctors, cops, firemen—their “self sacrificing” is *based in how they have obligated themselves to the good of the public. and the tea party is trying to *dismantle* that obligation to the public. and as witnessed in the shameful display of joy the past two presidential debates at the mention of death, they take *glee* in the repercussions that the public suffers by the dismantling of obligation to the public.

this is a shameful, horrifying, grotesque place.

i’m still not convinced that they don’t fundamentally want everyone who is not (like) them to die.

Reference link for those who may be bewildered as to the source of this. Goes to a clip from the Tea Party debate when, in response to a question about a hypothetical person with a catastrophic illness being unable to purchase healthcare:

Paul started to answer that the man had made a choice to go without healthcare, and it wasn’t society’s responsibility to foot the bill. “That’s what freedom is all about, taking your own risks. This whole idea that you have to prepare and take care of everybody” is the basis of a “welfare state,” he said, drawing big applause from the crowd.

And don’t let the article’s inclusion of the fact that when presented with the question “should he just be left to die”, MOST (but not all) of the audiences quieted cheering fool you.

These people knew exactly what it meant, and if having their cruelty, lack of empathy, and callousness exposed by naming it for what it was - leaving a man to die for lack of insurance - caused them to quiet, it doesn’t change anything.

Because the point is that this is an audience that believes that when you have wealth, it is better being retained by the wealthy than being used to help as many people as possible. This is an audience that believes that it is more important for a few people to have a lot of wealth and luxury items and power than for everyone to have what they need. And if you don’t believe the U.S. has that much wealth? Check out what the Richest U.S. Households (a small group of just 400 households) could buy with the $1.37 trillion they hold.

This is a group who values the ability of a privileged class of people to stay privileged over the ability of EVERYONE ELSE to have food, medicine, education, shelter, and protection. This is a group who is fighting for the right to make sure that 1 person can buy an SUV or a vacation home while 1,000 people starve.

The reason for that is that they REALLY DO want everyone who is not like them to die or at least exist in a state of misery and oppression so complete that they can’t escape it.

They want the poor, the people of color, the queers, the trans and non-binary people, the women who don’t obey, the people with wombs (of any gender), the non-Christians, the non-conservatives, the disabled, the fat people to all just die. They want us dead. They want to strangle us, starve us, cut us off, drown us, and then get as much profit from our suffering and death as possible.

So they want to make sure that the rich can basically get bellhop service while anyone who’s poor has to rely on random luck to survive because the option of going to a doctor and getting the care they need to stay not only alive, but in the best quality of life possible.

If you suspect that they want you to die, it’s because they’re CAMPAIGNING TO MAKE THE WORLD UNLIVEABLE FOR US.

I believe mocking other cultures is wrong but people shouldn’t have to sensor every little thing they wear and emulate, if they are doing it with innocent intentions. It’s funny how many of the same people who claim to want acceptance and tolerance are now wanting to confine others. Different cultures should be enjoyed by everyone.  Is being judgmental and easily offended trendy now? What happened to loving on others?

enjoyed doesnt not equal stereotyped…

Wow this girl is way beyond help…

Politically correct?

Whatever.  I am not worried when some transgressive asshole decries the influence of political correctness, because it means that the asshole in question is now furrowing their gormless brow in an effort to comprehend all the ways in which they’re acting like an asshole.

Native mascots are fucking racist.  Full stop.

Dressing up as a caricature of Native people is fucking racist.

Indulging in stereotypes is harmful.  I don’t give a shit if you’re oh-so-progressive that you can personally tolerate racism, and you’re projecting if you believe we shouldn’t either.

If having to avoid indulging in tired old racist tropes is too confining for you, the problem isn’t the influence of political correctness, the problem is that you are actually a shitty human.

Other cultures do not exist for you to ‘enjoy.’  We do not live in zoos.  We are not here for your edification and despite whatever fallacies you’re currently holding on to, we do not appreciate your appropriation.  We appreciate your attempts to justify your bullshit even less.

I am not tolerant. I do not tolerate assholes who act like assholes and then expect applause.

white allies, come collect this…

out of all the arguments that could be made about ignorant people, is hair style really the biggest issue? i’m white, and i have dreads. my hair has no connection to my heritage or anything close to that. i think dreadlocks are beautiful, on every race. just like i think red, black, brown and blonde hair is beautiful; and every unnatural hair colour too. i think these colours are beautiful on any race. honestly, there is so much racism and oppression in this world, what some one decides to do with there hair is the least of our worries.

i had very very thin hair, and barely any of it. i was very self conscious about it and it brought down my self esteem a lot. i could never find a hairstyle i liked until i dreaded my hair. i love it, it makes me happy, and makes me feel beautiful. i’m sorry if the combination of my hair style and skin colour negatively effects anyone, but i will never make choices on my appearance to meet others standards.

1: nobody said hair was the biggest issue.  you’re exaggerating to make it seem like people critical of the OP are making a big deal out of nothing.

2: it is NOT our place as white people to tell people of color and indigenous people which racist/colonialist oppressions they should or should not focus on.  your whitesplaining levels are off the scale.

3: please don’t frame this as “THOSE MEAN PEOPLE are attacking my self-esteem”.  nobody was personally attacking you.  nobody was trying to make you unhappy.  and this is, in fact, not about your feelings at all.

4: and don’t frame this as “you’re not the boss of me!!!!!” either.  us white people being called on our appropriation is NOT the same as being oppressed or bullied.  it is not the same as being pressured to conform.  you’re not rebelling or sticking up for yourself here.  you’re just being willfully ignorant and white supremacist.  YOU are being an oppressive bully.

{ Call to Action in Santa Cruz: Help Protect an Ohlone Burial Site, Monday Sept. 19th }

email i got.  please go if you can.  and if you can’t go, please pass this around if you can.  thank you.

Protect Sacred Places - Call to Action:

Protect the Ohlone Burial and Village Site at Branciforte Creek

March to City Hall from Mission Santa Cruz

Monday, September 19thMeet 9:00am sharp to march Mission Plaza: 103 Emmett St. (at Mission St) beside Holy Cross ChurchSanta Cruz, CA
KB Home, a housing developer, is attempting to push forward with planned construction of seven new homes on the Branciforte Creek Knoll, an ancient Ohlone village and burial site in Santa Cruz.
On Monday morning, a closed meeting is scheduled at City Hall with KB Home, the City of Santa Cruz, and Ohlone elders. We believe KB Home and the City are preparing to defy the anticipated recommendation of Ohlone elders that the entire Knoll be preserved as a sacred Ohlone site. After arriving at City Hall, we will remain outside holding a vigil for the duration of this 10am closed-door meeting, awaiting the result.
Please join us to demand:
  • That the Ohlone Elders’ requests be honored and acted upon
  • A public City Council meeting regarding the Knoll before any City decision is made
  • Permanent protection of the entire Knoll as a sacred site through a cultural easement
If you cannot make the Monday AM March, please be on alert for an emergency text-message and email announcement that will be sent out in the afternoon if the City decides to allow KB Home to proceed with development on the Knoll.

To be added to our emergency SMS contact system: please send an email to info@savetheknoll.org with your cell phone number.

Everything I said was definitely interpreted in a different way then I meant it.

a sentiment i’ve noticed a lot is that your intent does not matter when you say/do damaging stuff.  i think it applies here.

1. hair isn’t a big issue, so it shouldn’t be made into one.

uh, yeah, this obviously IS a big issue.  please read or re-read the thread you’re reblogging.  you seem to have missed or ignored every point made in it.

2. it’s my place as a human being to say what i think. it has nothing to do with my or anyone else’s skin colour. but being someone who is white, with dreads, i felt the need to say something on this subject.

i’m not attacking your right to free speech.  i’m saying that it’s wrong for whites to say “this racist/colonialist thing is no big deal”.  i mean FFS we BENEFIT FROM THESE OPPRESSIONS.

also, by saying that by being white i can’t talk about oppression or racism is ridiculous. should i just have no interest or worries in that area? because if i didn’t then i would be an even more ignorant, white skinned person then i already am, right?

[eye roll] i did NOT say you couldn’t talk about oppression or racism at all.  i’m saying IT’S NOT OUR PLACE TO SAY WHAT YOU SAID.  THAT SPECIFIC TYPE OF THING.  not that we can’t talk about racism at all.  good grief.

3. i was simply stating what my dreads mean to me. i do not feel like my self esteem was being attacked, i don’t feel personally attacked.

ok, but to me, it did come across like you were saying you were personally attacked.  maybe i’m being an oversensitive white girl about this specific part, i dunno.  and in any case, what your locs mean to you does not matter as much as the fact that a white person with locs is appropriating.

4. i never said i was being oppressed or bullied. i am definitely not rebelling or sticking up for myself. i was sharing my opinion, like everyone else was.

…but about this, i am VERY suspicious.  it really, really seems like the subtext of your earlier post is “don’t tell me what to do!!!!!”.  this part, especially: “[…] i will never make choices on my appearance to meet others standards.”  this is the kind of thing one might say facing pressure to conform.  that’s why it raised a red flag for me when you suspiciously applied it to culture appropriation apologism.  i mean, aside from the fact that you’re doing culture appropriation apologism in the first place.

i really don’t feel like i was being an ‘oppressive bully’, with my hair style or words, and im sorry if anyone felt like i was. i am just genuinely confused on why this subject even truly matters, it feels like a waste of time compared to so many other issues. whitesplaining wasn’t my aim, since my opinion wasn’t directed at anyone at all.

again, intent doesn’t matter here.  and again, it’s not our place as whites to say “this racist/colonialist thing doesn’t matter as much as these other things”.  also, “i’m sorry if anyone FELT i was [doing damaging thing]” is not a real apology.

{ Oh, and another thing: }

failedblackwoman:

dumbthingswhitepplsay:

note-a-bear:

Stop saying “Hair is hair.” Or, “It’s freedom of choice.”

Fuck you.

Fuck you so hard.

I don’t get a choice in how I manage my hair if I want a job. There is a notable difference in how I am perceived by others depending on how much my hair resembles an acceptable white hairstyle.

So don’t you dare say “Hair is hair.”

Hair is a site of trauma and rehabilitation. My relationship with my hair is so goddamned fucked up, you have no idea. You will never have any notion of what it’s like for me to look in a mirror and try to figure out whether or not people will shy away from me on the street, or someone will clutch their purse, or people will let their kids STARE at me like I’m in some fucking zoo.

Hair is hair my ass.

This too people. Especially because I have natural hair for the first time in a long time and it is fucking so scary, I wear wigs because people TREAT ME BETTER when I do.

UGH, UGH UGH UGH. This is something I think about every day of my life. I recently  had a job interview and I haven’t heard anything back. Not a “No, thank you” nothing. And I constantly wonder if it’s because of my locks. I’m too proud to cut them off, but I want to work in Television which is not only a male dominated field, but a white one as well.

What the hell am I supposed to do?

reblogging this, if that’s ok.  if it’s not ok, i’ll take my reblog down.
