Do you remember Mohammed Sooknanan’s case? He’s been detained at the Broward Detention Center since before Christmas of last year when he was pulled over for driving without a license; he was on the way to the hospital with his wife who was having a panic attack. Despite no criminal record Judge Rex Ford has denied his bond and ICE has also refused to let him go.
ICE: Let Mohammed Go - Pending Marriage Application
This is another clear case of the system abusing its power; Mohammed is clearly eligible for discretion. He is married to a United States citizen who has filed a petition for him; he’s never been charged with anything other than driving without a license.
[Name] can you take a minute to make a call and help us get Mohammed released?
Sample Script: “I am calling to ask that you release Mohammed Sooknanan (A#876-090-171) from Broward Transitional Center. Mohammed was arrested for having an expired license while driving his U.S. citizen wife, who was having a panic attack, to the hospital. He has a pending marriage petition, why is he still detained?”
Thank you for your support. Mohammed is losing hope and thinking of telling his deportation officer to just deport him. We need to make sure ICE doesn’t get away with this.
Thank you,
Mohammad Abdollahi
P.S. On twitter / facebook? Help us spread the word: @wwwicegov why is Mohammed detained for 9 months? Grant his discretion now! bit.ly/flmohammed
