PETITION TO STOP THE DEPORTATION OF LETICIA C., A HONDURAN NATIONAL LIVING WITH ADVANCED AIDS

Ms. Leticia C. (Leticia), a 40-year old Honduran national living with advanced stage AIDS, urgently needs your help to stop her imminent deportation to Honduras. She is the single mother of a developmentally disabled, 13-year old U.S. citizen daughter who was born with HIV disease. They live together in Washington, DC. Because she does not have anybody else in the U.S. who could care for her, Leticia’s daughter would have to accompany her mother to Honduras if she were deported. Due to Leticia’s and her daughter’s serious medical conditions, their lives would be at great risk in Honduras.

Regrettably, Leticia received a felony conviction in 2012 for a shoplifting arrest in Virginia. She is deeply remorseful for her actions. Despite the shoplifting conviction, we believe that this incident should not result in her removal to a country where her and her daughter’s lives would be jeopardized.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has scheduled Leticia’s deportation date for July 19, 2012.

Please sign this petition to request ICE to stop her scheduled deportation and grant her request for deferred action.

The lives of Leticia and her daughter are now in the hands of ICE officials. We need your action to ensure they make the right decision. Please tell the responsible authorities at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and ICE that deporting Leticia to Honduras would be inhumane, unconscionable, and completely unnecessary.
