{ Headed to DC to Demand Justice for Families | Alliance for Immigrants Rights & Reform Michigan }
from an email they sent out — if you cannot be there and cannot donate, passing this around also helps:
The “prosecutorial discretion” program is failing. Less than 2% of deportation cases have been halted. That’s not what the Administration promised us, and it’s unacceptable.
Here in Michigan, we’re working with a victim of human traffcking from China who was denied, a father of 3 US Citizen children who ICE continues to prosecute, a 14 year-old girl from El Salvador who is being prosecuted, and a Bangaldeshi immigrant who was denied despite 20 years in the US, a US citizen child, and his wife’s pregnancy.
If discretion isn’t for these people, who could it possibly be for?
Jorge and Cindy Garcia from Lincoln Park will be joined by families and students from all across the country who face the deportations that the Administration promised us would stop. We’re demanding that the Department of Homeland Security meet with these familes and see the human face of their broken policies.
They need an explanation, and they need justice. They also need YOUR HELP:
2) Donate $50 to help cover the cost of the trip! We need your support to make it to Washington.
Keep it up -
Ryan & the AIR Team
[WARNING for the Cayla Roberts page (the link at “a victim of human trafficking” above): in addition to talk of human trafficking, there’s mention of sexual abuse and murder/forced suicide threats]
