{ LINK: TransGriot: ENDA Set For July 10 Senate Committee Vote }

The long delayed Employment and Non Discrimination Act (ENDA) will finally get a Senate committee vote.

The bill if passed would prevent discrimination by civilian non religious employers of 15 or more people on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in hiring and employment.

I’d personally like to see religious employers added to this bill as well because as far as I’m concerned, you don’t have a special right to discriminate.

It was reintroduced by a bipartisan group of lawmakers back in April and has been scheduled for a July 10 vote before the Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee.

President Obama supports ENDA, wants to sign it and is urging action on the bill as a coalition of legislators and LG groups press him to sign an executive order that won’t have the coverage that passed Congressional legislation will.   An executive order is also vulnerable to being overturned which is why the POTUS wants to go the legislative route.

the bill number for ENDA is S. 815 — there’s contact info for US Senators at

Dear Friends & Community,

We are writing to let you know of a community member who needs support after going through a major health crisis. Many of you know Egyptt, a long time activist and advocate for low income, trans communities of color.

Egyptt was…

reblogging this in light of Janet Mock’s brilliant insights on crowdfunding for trans women of color and in hopes that more and more people share this alongside  KOKUMO’s and Ja’briel Walthour’s fundraisers.  Please support all three by all the means you can!

{ Save Our Rights Now (Fact Checkers) }

If you have already signed up to fact check and asked for a specific state, I’ll be sending the information we need confirmed to you within the next two hours.

More fact checkers. We need those who’re in it for the long haul but if you can’t do or aren’t interested in the long haul, could you give us a weekend? While we do need the regulations from each county, we need each state’s regulations confirmed first. When we go live on Monday July 1st, we want to have all states voter registration information confirmed. We already have the information from each state. We simply need what we have double checked to make certain it’s accurate.

Even if you can’t do more, if you could help us out this weekend and help get each state confirmed, it would be immensely helpful.

This is how it would work: You would pick a state that hasn’t already been confirmed, you would send a message to the Save Our Rights NOW ask box giving the state you’re willing to confirm, we’ll send you the information we already have, you will verify that our information is correct or that there is something that needs to be changed and have the information back to us by Sunday June 30 at 9:00pm EST

Can you help? Even for just this weekend?

These are the states we still need verified:

  • Alabama
  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • California

{ LINK: Stop DREAM Act Eligible Undocuqueer Alfredo Reyes' Deportation! }

Alfred is a leader in his community and a student at East Los Angeles Community College. He needs to be home with his family to continue to pursue his dreams. He dreams of continuing his education and majoring in culinary arts.

According to the memo issued by John Morton, Alfredo is a low priority case and should be granted favorable exercise of prosecutorial discretion. Alfredo has grown up in the United States and considers this country his home.

He needs to be with his family and continue to pursue his goals as a leader in his community Alfredo needs education not deportation.

We are making calls to John Morton, Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement(ICE) at (202) 732-3000

Sample Script:

"I am calling in support of Alfredo Reyes (A#205-314-436) an urge you to stop his deportation. Alfredo is a DREAM Act eligible youth and has been active in his community in Los Angeles. He is a great student he deserves to continue his education not to be deported since he has been here since he was 9 months old."

{ Save My Rights NOW! (Volunteers we still NEED) }

There are two things we still need volunteers for.

1- A logo. If you aren’t sure about your art skills and don’t think you could do anything professional looking, how about a sign? Something simple. Maybe something that just says, “Save My Rights NOW!” on it. Thoughts? Ideas?

2- Tumblr theme. The blog is going live on July 1st (Just 3 days from now) so there is a lot to do and the theme is going to affect our set up. We’re looking for ideas. Any help would be appreciated. Ideally, something that would allow for a button that says something like, “Know your voter regulations” and then when you click that link, you are then taken to a section that has a link for each of the 50 states. Then, you’d just have to locate your state and see your voting regulations, next election, etc. Thoughts? Ideas?

Send any idea to the Save My Right NOW! Ask box.

{ Save My Rights NOW! (About us) }

This is what I’ll be talking about for the rest of the week. I am working with a small group to start an organization. Eventually, we would like this to be a non-profit. For now, we want to make some noise and try to help fix what’s broken.

First things first. Our Purpose-We are focused on five issues:

1. Voting Rights- During the 2012 election, voter suppression was an extremely big issue. With the recent ruling by the Supreme Court, things are set up to get even worse. Voting needs to be an American right. (Which by the way, it currently isn’t.) Leave no American behind.

2. Reproductive Rights- While everyone’s eyes were on Texas, many may have forgotten that Texas is one of a group. Reproductive rights have been under siege for several years now and things are getting more and more difficult to fight. There is a world of late night votes and underhanded, behind closed doors, negotiations. Stop the backwards thinking.

3. Job/Housing Discrimination- While we all celebrate today’s Supreme Court rulings, it is imperative that we remember, housing and job discrimination based on sexual orientation is still perfectly legal in many states. While people are legally discriminated against, we are all barred from freedom.

4. Police State- Police are consistently being given more power and less constraints. While the people they are supposed to be protecting are losing their resources for recourse every day. Say NO to a police state. Police officers (and the politicians that put them there) must be held accountable for their actions.

5. Student Loan Rates/Debt- Student loans are big business. A business that renders many college students either unable to get an education or unable to survive outside of their parent’s homes once they’ve gotten it.

Please have a look at this post too as it lists stuff you can do to help!
