{ how to use/get around on this blog }

this page is very much a work in progress.  and recently i had to change my theme awkwardly.  so this is a bit MORE awkward than it already was, now.  i know this is not finished, not good enough.  i’ll keep working on it.

so, if you want to and can tell me, please tell me if:

• it is hard to read this blog, and/or
• it is hard to find things on this blog, and/or
• anything about this blog is hard to use/access.

and i’m sorry if i’m patronizing in my instructions.

HOW TO USE/GET AROUND ON THIS BLOG:

a “permalink” is a link to the post’s page.  a “Read more” link works the same way.  clicking on either of these will allow you to read the full post on its own.  it’ll also let you read the post’s notes.  the “SKIP TO NOTES” link at the top of the post’s page takes you right to them.

a post’s notes show reblogs of the post and replies to the post.  the notes also show who has “liked” the post.  often, when people reblog a post, they add text.  a little bit of this added text will show up under the reblog note.  for example: “[name] reblogged this from numol and added: hey guys what’s going on”.  that added text links to that reblog.  sadly, with this theme, reblogs are ONLY linked to in the notes if there’s added text.  i will try to find a way to make this work, or change my theme again.

this blog is arranged so that the newest posts are on page 1.  higher-numbered pages have older posts.  in the links under the blog title at the top is the “home” link.  the “home” link goes to page 1.

near the bottom of the page are links to older (and maybe newer) pages.  the “SKIP TO NAVIGATION & SEARCH” link at the page top takes you to this area.  this area also has a search box.  it searches for posts tagged with the word(s) you type in the box, or similar words.  for example, a search for “writing” also turns up stuff tagged “write”.  NOTE: this does not work very well.  i’m sorry.

“tags” are words or terms that apply to the post.  tagging is a sort of filing system.  for example, a post about turnip farming could be tagged “turnips” and “farming”.  tags link to pages that show all posts with that tag.
